Registration fees and rules

Attached is the Current Fee Schedule effective January 1, 2012. Standard registration fees will apply to all animals aged three(3) years or younger. Late registrations fees will be imposed on animals older than three(3) years of age and is determined by the post-marked date on registrations for processing.

Animal Transfer Fees are the responsibility of the seller and the details need to be forwarded to the AWA office within 60days to avoid any penalty.

The AWA cannot guarantee the legitimacy of unregistered animals and therefore advise all buyers that before the acquisition of breeding stock, paperwork should accompany such animal/s to support its eligibility for registration.

It is Association policy that no work will be processed for non-members, un-financial members or members that are in arrears with their account.

All fees and rules are subject to change without notice.

Scidera Inc. has a process in place for sending in blood samples for DNA.  The "Cattle Card" is the standard sample format used by Scidera Inc.  The benefits of the sample collection systems are:

  • Convenient - no more additional veterinary costs for drawing food.
  • Easy Storage - no more overnight shipping ice.
  • Reliable - "Cattle Cards" reduce the number of re-do samples in the lab.

Less than 1% of the samples on "Cattle Cards" need to be resubmitted.  The process uses a "Cattle Card" collection kit, which consists of one eighteen gauge needle, one matchbook style "Cattle Card", one envelope and sample submission form.  the kits are obtained from Scidera Inc. directly by phone.

Costs:

  • Sample kits are $2.00/kit (minimum order of 5 kits plus S&H)
  • DNA Parent Verification is $25
  • Extra marker panel if needed: $15.00
  • Non-FTA samples: $7.00 above the basic fee

The Procedure:

  1. Label the "Cattle Card" with the animals individual ID#.
  2. Remove the needle from the plastic wrap using a new needle for each animal sample.
  3. Hold the tip of the ear, and using the needle, pierce the ear.  Pierce the ear near the tip where you are holding it.  Repeat piercing 2-3 times within 1/8 of an inch of that ear.
  4. Wait 5-10 seconds for a blood drop to form.
  5. Holding the back bock of the "Cattle Card", open the matchbook cover and press the circle to the blood on the top side of the ear.   **For a sufficient sample, the blood should fill at least 1/2 the area of the circle.
  6. Fill out the submission form.
  7. Mail this sample with $25.00 to:
